Come tour the new Grady E. Harvell Civil Engineering Research and Education Center. The new facilty is scheduled to be complete in July 2021. Attendance will be kept to 30 people max. Lunch will be provided.
The 50,000 ft2 large-scale testing facility of the Grady E. Harvell Civil Engineering Research and Education Center (CEREC) includes a 20,000ft2 high-bay testing area having a 100 by 40 foot strong floor capable of providing up to 240 kips of axial reaction force and 220 kips of shear reaction force at floor connections 4 ft on center. The high-bay testing area contains a 25 ton overhead crane and various loading and measurement equipment (including multiple high capacity, high stroke, servo-hydraulic actuators). Other resources and lab spaces within CEREC include a dedicated concrete materials laboratory, a metallurgy lab for metallographic analyses, and an extensive materials testing laboratory with equipment capacities ranging from 5 kips to 220 kips (including a biaxial fatigue testing machine having 50kip axial and 1,500ft-lb torque capacity). A full-service machine shop for experimental testing support (i.e. constructing specialized items such test fixtures) is located within CEREC.
COVID Protocols - Each person will be screened and temperatures taken prior to the tour. If you feel unwell, do not attend. Masks will be required if the state still mandates them at that time. Parking is east of the jobsite, please see the attached PDF in your registration confirmation email.
