About our Panel:
Joshua Johnson, Active Transportation Coordinator, City of Pea Ridge
Joshua is the father of two boys, and husband to an amazing woman. He loves being out in nature regardless of the activity and enjoy sharing those experiences with others. Formerly a teacher of 20 years, he now finds himself in the deep end of the pool of active transportation in one of the fastest growing cities in Northwest Arkansas. The learning curve is steep, but the best views come from the top.
Meredith Bergstrom, Senior Program Officer, Walton Family Foundation
Meredith is a senior program officer for the Home Region Program for the Walton Family Foundation. Meredith is an AICP-certified planner with a master’s degree in urban planning from the University of Southern California Sol Price School of Public Policy.
Nathan Becknell, Principal of Fayetteville Office, Traffic Engineering Consultants (TEC)
Nathan is a Principal and Manager of the Fayetteville, Arkansas office for Traffic Engineering Consultants, Inc. (TEC) where he works on a variety of transportation focused areas including signal designs and timing, safety studies, bike/ped advocacy, impact analysis, and policy promotion. He received both his BSCE and MSCE from the University of Arkansas and has held multiple leadership roles within the profession including MOVITE President and ARITE co-Administrator.
Jessica Pearson, Founder, Director of Community Coalitions, Arkansas Moves
Jessica is the founder and director of community coalitions at Arkansas Moves, a statewide organization dedicated to creating safer, more connected communities through bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure. With a background in public relations, advertising, stakeholder engagement, and strategic communications, she specializes in coalition building, public engagement, and civic partnership development. Jessica works with communities, local leaders, businesses, and advocates to align transportation investments with quality of life, economic development, and long-term community connectivity goals.
Moderator: Kevin Beaumont, Engineering Director of the Central Region, McClelland Consulting Engineers (MCE)
Kevin is the Engineering Director of the Central Region at McClelland Consulting Engineers, an ESP Company. Prior to the recent promotion, Kevin was head of the transportation department for MCE. He is an active bike rider starting from riding to school, to newspaper boy, to a 400-mile bike-packing trip across southwest England. Since then, he's had a role in several active transportation projects in Northwest Arkansas and greatly enjoys all that the area has to offer. He received his B.Eng degree in Civil Engineering from Kingston University.
