ASCE NWA's August meeting will focus on the City of Fayetteville's Tree Preservation and Landscaping Manual. The primary purpose of this manual is to provide developers, engineers, architects, landscape architects, and contractors with the City’s requirements for tree preservation and protection and landscape installation. This manual corresponds with the requirements detailed in the City of Fayetteville Unifi ed Development Code Chapter 167: Tree Preservation and Protection and Chapter 177: Landscape Regulations. The manual is applicable to all types of development in the City, including LSDs and PZDs.

Presenting on the manual are Fayetteville Urban Foresters John Scott and Lee Porter.
John Scott has lived in Fayetteville since 1994 and calls the area home. John holds a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the University of Arkansas and a Masters of Regional and Community Planning from Kansas State. When the two schools play he roots for the Hogs!
Lee Porter is from Texas area and has a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the University of Arkansas. Prior to becoming an Urban Forester, Lee worked as the Sustainability Coordinator for the City of Fayetteville.
Both Urban Foresters identify themselves as tree huggers and John considers himself the Lorax for Fayetteville.
For online access to the manual, see this PDF on the City's website.
